Do game booster apps increase FPS?

They may help when background activity is getting in the way, but they cannot promise more FPS. Here’s how to check a change.

Sometimes reducing background activity helps a game run better. It depends on what was slowing it down in the first place. A booster cannot promise extra FPS, and it cannot make a graphics card more powerful.

Compare the same part of the game

Use the game’s built-in benchmark if it has one, or replay the same section. Keep resolution and graphics settings unchanged. Run it a few times before and after one adjustment, and note both FPS and any stutters. One unusually smooth run is not enough to judge the change.

Check CPU, memory, and GPU use in Task Manager as well. A busy graphics card during a demanding scene can be normal. If lowering a graphics setting helps more than closing an unused app, that is a useful reason to focus on the game’s settings.

What our Game Booster adds

Jitsumi Game Booster brings CPU and memory readings, background-app controls, cleanup tools, and game-detection settings into one app. GPU readings and optional graphics tuning require supported NVIDIA hardware. The app does not include an FPS counter.

Start by closing an app you do not need, after saving its work. Repeat your comparison. Memory-cleanup numbers can change again as apps resume using memory, and freeing storage is not the same as freeing RAM. Keep a change only if it helps your game without disrupting anything you use.

Leave overclocking out of the first test

Game Booster’s optional NVIDIA controls adjust GPU and video-memory clocks, not CPU clocks. Overclocking can cause crashes, overheating, or hardware damage. Leave those controls at their defaults unless you understand the risks; they are not needed to use the monitor or cleanup tools.
