Check CPU, memory and audio in Gaming Overlay
Open the Performance and Audio panels with Shift+F12, and see what each one controls.
Press Shift+F12 to open Gaming Overlay’s menu. Performance shows CPU and memory use; Audio opens the output-channel volume controls. You can check them while an app or game is open, where your display mode supports the overlay.
Open the Performance panel
Choose Performance to see CPU load and RAM use. These are whole-PC readings, not a list of individual apps or an FPS counter. If a number stays high and you want to find the app behind it, open Windows Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
Know what the audio sliders change
Choose Audio to open Audio Stats. Channel 1 and Channel 2 adjust the output channels separately. Make a small change at low volume and listen before raising it further. These are not separate game, voice-chat, or microphone sliders; use Windows or the game’s own audio menu for those.
Try it with your usual setup
Test the overlay on the desktop first, then with the game and display mode you use. If it does not appear over a fullscreen game, try the game’s windowed or borderless mode. Compatibility with every game is not guaranteed.
Press Shift+F12 again to close the menu. Gaming Overlay needs Steam and an internet connection while running.
