Add an app to Gaming Overlay’s Quick Launch

Give an app a name, choose its executable, and test the new shortcut before your next game.

Gaming Overlay quick-launch area with its launcher customization settings.

Gaming Overlay’s Quick Launch panel opens apps from the overlay. Add the few you use most, such as voice chat or a capture tool, then check that each shortcut opens the right program.

Add your first app

Press Shift+F12 to open the overlay menu, then choose Quick Launch. In Name, enter a label you will recognise. In Path, enter the full path to the app’s executable file, ending in .exe.

Click Add Program. The app’s icon should appear under User’s Launches, and the shortcut is saved automatically. Click it to test. The default shortcuts are shown separately under Default Launches.

Find the right executable

If you only have a desktop shortcut, right-click it and open Properties to check its target. Use the program’s .exe file rather than the .lnk shortcut. Apps installed through different stores may need a different launch method; not every desktop shortcut points to an executable you can add.

If nothing appears after Add Program, check that the path points to an existing file and give the shortcut a name of at least two characters. If you move or reinstall the app later, the old path may stop working.

Try it before a match

Open your game, press Shift+F12, and test one shortcut. Launching another app may move focus away from the game. If the overlay is hidden by a fullscreen game, try windowed or borderless mode. Gaming Overlay requires Steam and an internet connection while running.
